BRAVE - souls

BRAVE was the theme of a contest held during GREATIVITY 2023, for which we had to make a minute-long movie. I had the honor of being part of a team of five as the 2d illustrator. This experience taught me a lot, and truly showed me what I want to do. Working alongside my team of talented people who know their capabilities, and realize how my skills may be applied was an absolute pleasure. We had 48 hours to create all assets and animation except the initial character sketches and turnarounds.
I also dealt with shot composition, shooting and cutting up the whole movie in live action so we could then use that as direction for our 3d people and my animations. We used that short movie to get feedback on our cuts, composition, and flow.

We had the idea of souls inside the murky water in which our protagonist is dragged, a whole horror experience, voices, doubts, and to have these faces and arms be what drags them down. Sadly, our time was short and we didn't end up using these as assets, but they were very fun to make.

They were also inspired by replaying Darksiders 2, and I have an incredible fondness for the art style used there, and how a more stylized approach leads to a much more memorable experience.
